WHY VALERIUS

I DIDN'T DO SKINCARE EITHER.

Ten years ago, skincare wasn't something I thought about.

I had a cheap face wash that I got once a year for my birthday. I used it occasionally. That was about the extent of my routine.

I didn't worry about moisturiser. I didn't know what ingredients did what. I certainly wasn't thinking about what my skin might look like ten years later.

I was young. It seemed irrelevant.

Then, gradually, that changed.

THE MOMENT YOU START TO NOTICE

As I got older, I started taking better care of myself.

I cared about my career. I trained. I cared about what I wore and how I presented myself. I started thinking more seriously about my health and my future.

And eventually I started paying more attention to my face.

Dry skin. Looking tired when I wasn't. The first signs that I wasn't going to look 25 forever.

Nothing dramatic happened.

I just reached that point where I looked at myself and thought:

I should probably start looking after this.

The problem was, I had absolutely no idea where to start.

I DIDN'T WANT TO BECOME A SKINCARE EXPERT.

The more I looked into skincare, the more complicated it seemed to become.

Cleansers. Toners. Serums. Acids. Retinols. Eye creams. Morning routines. Evening routines. Endless ingredients I had never heard of.

Most of the industry seemed to be talking to people who were already interested in skincare.

I wasn't.

I just wanted to understand what was actually worth doing.

So I started learning.

I learned what different ingredients actually did. I learned what mattered and what didn't. I tried different products. I gradually built skincare into the same way I thought about everything else I wanted to maintain as I got older.

And something interesting happened.

It stopped feeling like "skincare".

It was just looking after myself.

THAT'S WHERE VALERIUS CAME FROM.

I realised there must be a lot of men exactly where I had been.

Men who take their career seriously. Who exercise. Who buy decent clothes. Who think about their health, their finances and their future.

But when it comes to their face?

Nothing.

Not because they don't care about themselves.

Because nobody has ever made skincare feel particularly relevant to them.

I wanted to change that.

I didn't create Valerius because I think every man needs a bathroom cabinet full of products.

Quite the opposite.

I created Valerius for the man who doesn't want skincare to become a hobby.

Products that are straightforward to understand. Formulated with ingredients that have a reason for being there. Premium enough that you actually want to use them. Simple enough that you actually will.

No ten-step routine.

No pretending you need to become an expert.

Just start looking after your skin.

WHY IT MATTERS TO ME

I wish I'd started earlier.

Not because I think getting older is something we should be frightened of. It's going to happen to all of us.

But I've come to realise there's a difference between getting older and simply neglecting yourself.

We accept that looking after our body now matters later.

We accept that looking after our health now matters later.

We accept that looking after our finances now matters later.

Your skin isn't fundamentally different.

I can't go back and tell the younger version of me to start looking after his skin.

But I can build something that makes it easier for the next man to start looking after his today.

If you've reached the same point I did, you've started noticing your skin and know you should probably do something about it, but have absolutely no interest in becoming a skincare expert, that's who I built Valerius for.

You don't need to know everything.

You just need to start.
